Berkshire Hand Therapy

What can a hand therapist do for you?

Berkshire Hand Therapy, a division of Berkshire Orthopaedic Associates, is an outpatient hand therapy practice with two convenient locations in Pittsfield and North Adams, MA.

Hand therapists are occupational or physical therapists who specialize in treating conditions of the upper extremity and hand. A certified hand therapist (CHT) is a therapist who has passed a comprehensive exam in upper extremity rehabilitation after practicing for at least 3 years, including 4,000 hours in the hand therapy setting.

At Berkshire Hand Therapy, we are experienced in assessing and treating patients using a variety of techniques, including fabrication of custom splints, use of targeted exercise, modalities, and patient education for improving hand and arm function.

Our team works closely with physicians to provide patients with a high quality continuum of care that continues through the patient’s recovery and resumption of functional use. We offer a seamless transition of in-house care for splinting, wound care, and therapy coordinated with doctor or physician assistant visits. We place our emphasis on improving each patient’s ability to return to the activities that are important to them at the highest level of independence possible.
